This piece challenges conventional notions of language as written or spoken text. Here, meaning emerges through the material and the body in the act of stitching, in the threads, and in the cloth itself. Language takes on new forms as the rigid forms of the cross-stich letters are disrupted by the dangling strings dance in the light that passes through the waxed silk. The writing itself becomes abstract marks and marks on the material evoke a unknown language. As light filters through the waxed silk, hidden forms and lines emerge whispering of forgotten or future narratives. The textile becomes a site of translation between bodily gesture, visual form, and emotional resonance a language beyond words.
It is not, not finished. (2025). (33” x 44” )
