We carry things, not just object but ideas, materials and memories. Every craftsman has a million unfinished ideas, projects and a mountain of supplies. This work was inspired by an unfinished child’s smocked dress that was carried from home to home for 57 years until it was gifted to me and found  it’s home on my studio wall. What do these objects hold, and what do we inherit when they pass through generations? Composed of remnants and offcuts of other works, this sculpture contains within it the forms and threads needed to complete itself — or to remain unfinished. It reflects on the cultural shift from heirloom objects, like quilts and embroidered samplers, to a world defined by digital archives and ephemeral data.
